Community Spray Pad Construction to start in 2024

“One of the marvelous things about community is that it enables us to welcome and help people in a way we couldn't as individuals.” – Jean Vanier

Community Spray Pad Construction to start in 2024

Construction to Start on the Windsor Park Spray Pad in 2024

The long-awaited spray pad in the Windsor Park playground is a few steps closer. The required funding is in place to move forward thanks to a provincial grant received in December. The league is very grateful that many enthusiastic neighbourhood residents attended the Special Meeting on February 20 and voted overwhelmingly in favour of the Special Resolution. This vote was critical – it allowed the league to spend more than 10% of the funds in its Operating Account on this single item. The project can now go to tender.

The excitement is building–Windsor Park parents, grandparents and especially kids are eager to enjoy this new neighbourhood amenity. So far we’ve seen the footprint of the spay pad that’s located between the playground, the gazebo and the 119th St fence as well as relevant examples of other spray parks. Once the bids are in there will be opportunity for the community to preview the design consisting of spray elements, non-slip rocks, benches and landscaping. Starting this summer, hopefully in June, we’ll see shovels in the ground!

Neighbourhood residents are understandably concerned about the ongoing cost of operating and maintaining a spray pad.  Once the spray pad is built, the City is responsible for operations and maintenance, including the cost of the water.
