Zoning Bylaw Update – June 3rd Urban Planning Committee Meeting
Councillor Janz has informed us that so many community members have signed up to speak to the one-year review of Zoning Bylaw 20001, that councillors are concerned there won’t be enough time to fully discuss all suggestions or make motions for amendments before the June 30 public hearing.
To help ensure everyone’s feedback is considered, the City is encouraging residents to send their thoughts by email instead of speaking at the meeting. This approach will help focus discussions on constructive ideas and allow councillors to make informed decisions about next steps.
WPCL Development Committee Chair and Vice Chair have registered to speak at the Committee meeting. Their comments and suggestions will focus on:
- Minimizing impacts on neighbours from side-facing entrances
- Ensuring row housing fits well within the streetscape
- Reducing building lengths to create larger, more usable backyards
- Prioritizing landscaping early in project design
- Improving livability through better construction and soundproofing
- Addressing fire safety and egress concerns
- Placing entrances facing walkways rather than neighbouring properties when flanking paths exist
Please remember, this meeting is not a public hearing. The committee will likely direct Administration to bring forward amendments for the forthcoming public hearing, where everyone will have a chance to speak.
We encourage everyone to stay involved and share your feedback by email to civics@windsor-park.ca or register to speak at the upcoming public hearing.
