Get Involved – Volunteer with WPCL

“One of the marvelous things about community is that it enables us to welcome and help people in a way we couldn't as individuals.” – Jean Vanier

Get Involved – Volunteer with WPCL

Our community league runs on volunteers. Our neighbours share their time, energy, and ideas. This effort makes Windsor Park a connected, vibrant, and welcoming place to live.

This fall at our Annual General Meeting (Oct. 16, 2025), we will be: adopting the minutes of the 2024 AGM; reviewing annual highlights; financial statements and auditors report, and appointing auditors for 2025-26. We will also be electing our Executive Directors for the upcoming year. Additionally, we will consider any other business identified when adopting the agenda. These positions make up the Executive Board and help guide the overall strategic direction of the league.

Note: WPCL continues to operate under its 2016 Bylaws until the updated, member-approved Bylaws are officially accepted by the Alberta Societies Registry

Executive Director Positions (Elected at AGM)

  • President – Provides leadership, chairs meetings, and represents WPCL to the City and community partners.
  • Vice President – Supports the President and steps in when needed. Helps coordinate across committees.
  • Treasurer – Manages the league’s finances, prepares budgets, and keeps the Board informed.
  • Secretary – Keeps records, minutes, and helps ensure smooth board operations.
  • Membership Director – Manages membership sign-ups, renewals, and helps welcome new neighbours.
  • Executive Members at Large (3 positions) – Flexible roles that support the Board’s work, take on special projects, assist other Directors, or represent the community as needed.

👉Use the nomination form to put forward a candidate for election to the WPCL Board of Directors for the 2025/26 term.

Other Ways to Get Involved (Appointed After the AGM)

In addition to elected Executive Board positions, WPCL may appoint non-executive directors/ coordinators to help with specific areas. E= essential, D= desirable.

  • Casino (E) – Coordinates our bi-annual fundraising casino event, manage volunteers, and ensure compliance with AGLC.
  • Civics (E) – Liaises with residents, developers, and City planners on zoning, planning, and development issues.
  • Climate Coordinator (E) – Supports the League’s participation in City of Edmonton climate programs by promoting local sustainability initiatives, sharing climate-related resources, and helping the community adapt to and prepare for a changing climate.
  • Communications (E)- Oversees website, social media, and newsletters; promotes events and initiatives.
  • Community Safety Lead (D) – Works with residents, the City, and partners to address safety concerns such as crime, traffic, lighting, and pedestrian access.
  • Events & Social (E) – Plans and manages social events, coordinating volunteers, permits, and budgets.

  • Park Planning (D) – Works with residents and the City to plan, coordinate, and oversee improvements in park infrastructure.
  • Soccer (E)-  Organises the soccer program: registration, teams, coach support, and family communications. Liaises with SWEMSA Soccer Administrator.

Note: Non- Executive Directors/ Coordinators are appointed by the newly elected Executive Board at the first Board meeting after the AGM.

Some of these roles work best with committees; others are handled individually with support from the rest of the Board. Time commitments vary (from a few hours a month to seasonal bursts), and no one does this work alone – you’ll have the support of fellow board members and community volunteers. Priorities reflect the needs of the league and strengths and availability of the people who volunteer each year.
