Mother Nature granted us a clear (albeit windy) afternoon in which to celebrate and contemplate our beautiful planet. At least 100 community members joined in the festivities, featuring the theatrical and musical talents of The Raging Grannies and our very own Windsor Park schoolchildren. Attendees heard about community league projects, like the WP North Park improvement plans and pop-up gardens initiative. Our local experts were on hand to teach us about composting, natural gardening techniques, and our hardworking Partners In Parks volunteers’ efforts. We had giveaways of vintage soccer jerseys and park clean-up tools, as well as food and drinks. Thank you to our city councillor, Michael Janz, who biked over with his tot to enjoy the event with us. Special shout-out to the Earth Day organizing team, especially Marilyn Gaa and Mona Rai, who went above and beyond to make the day run smoothly. And, our sincerest gratitude to Sara Kalke, WP resident and RE/MAX agent, who generously sponsored the bouncy house, face painter (Bee’s Knees), and some snacks.
